Prevent Violence

The role of the Awareness & Prevention Department at Canyon Creek Services is critical in realizing our organizational vision of “Communities Free of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.” Our task is stop domestic and sexual violence from ever happening in the first place and to improve our social response to these types of violence.

Every 73 seconds, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. In the state of Utah, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience domestic violence at some point in their lifetime. Awareness and prevention efforts at CCS are aimed at reducing the prevalence of these forms of violence and promoting the health and safety in our communities.

Our programming is directed at cultivating environments where violence is not tolerated, challenging unhealthy social norms that contribute to violence perpetration, promoting gender equity and strengthening families and relationships. Our department utilizes a public health approach to violence prevention in order to cultivate communities where violence is not tolerated.

Violence is preventable! For information or resources on how you can prevent violence and support our efforts at CCS, please contact our team at prevention@canyoncreekservices.org.
